Emergency gas works force closure of key route into Winchester
EMERGENCY gas works will force the closure of a key route into Winchester.
Southern Gas Networks said the closure will affect City Road eastbound - heading into the city - from Andover Road to Hyde Street while they undertake the repairs.
A signed diversion will be in place via Andover Road, Worthy Lane and Hyde Street.
Traffic travelling westbound along City Road will not be affected.
The closure will come into effect from 8pm this evening (Friday, February 8) and last throughout the weekend, with overnight work continuing into next week.
A spokesman for Southern Gas networks said: “We'll be working 24 hours a day to complete this work as quickly as possible.”
