THE mother of the boy injured in a collision with a bus in Winchester city centre has thanked the emergency services for their help.
Ivo Gray, a pupil at Cheam School in Berkshire, was airlifted by ambulance to hospital after the collision with the Stagecoach number three bus in the lower High Street on Friday January 25.
The accident has sparked debate about the safety of the market.
Since then the city council has introduced measures including fencing and spacing the stalls out to improve sightlines and visibility.
Ivo, aged seven — not 10 as police originally said — suffered a fractured skull, but has since returned home to continue his recovery.
His mother Caroline, who lives near Basingstoke, told the Chronicle: “He is at home now, he’s fine.
“I would like to thank everybody on behalf of Ivo who cared for him; the ambulance, the police, the air
ambulance, the paediatric injuries unit.”
