A WOMAN today remains fighting for her life after being hit by a vehicle on the motorway near Winchester.

The collision happened late on Friday night (February 1) close to junction 11 at Hockley when the woman, who was on foot, was struck by a white van.

The woman, who is 53 and from the Winchester area, was taken to hospital and police say her injuries are life-threatening.

The northbound carriageway was closed for six hours to allow officers to investigate the scene.

It was unclear why she was on the motorway at night on foot.

Police were called to the scene at 10.50pm and have appealed for witnesses.
Anyone with information should contact the police on 101 and quote Operation Fable.
