A HAMPSHIRE college once again celebrated its cutest and cuddliest day of the year.

Sparsholt College welcomed thousands of visitors to its annual lambing weekend with more than 700 born to 350 ewes.

There were 'ooohs' and 'ahhs' aplenty from the 4,500 who scrambled to see the fluffy animals getting to grips with life over the weekend.

Shepherd John Garrett delivered several of them in front of the public, helped by several agricultural students training ahead of work placements on commercial farms in spring.

Mr Garrett, who has been a shepherd for 10 years and delivered thousands of lambs, said: “This is a really important day for the college and gives children a chance to see things in nature that they haven't before. I've even known it to reduce women to tears!”

It is the eighth time the college has opened the event to the public.
