A WINCHESTER skate park is set for a major revamp.

Residents had a chance to view plans for North Walls Skate Park at a public meeting at Winchester Rugby Club on Monday night (Jan 14).

The project will expand the park into the nearby multi-use games area providing equipment for skateboarders, BMX bikers, roller bladders and scooter riders.

It is proposed to replace prefab ramps with more expensive spray concrete ramps because the latter requires much less maintenance, has a longer life span and are easier to use. Ward councillor Dominic Hiscock was unable to attend the meeting but said the community was generally in favour of improving the park.

He said: “It’s recognised as a good thing and worth having and the better it is the more it will get used by children. It will probably mean moving the multi games area though and I’m not sure how they will go about that as planning could be an issue.”
