THE Mayor of Winchester’s Charities will be holding a series of events or charity.

This Saturday (JAN 19) Winchester’s own BBC Egghead, Kevin Ashman, will test the brains of those who enjoy quizzes when once again he will be question master in the Guildhall.

Teams of six or eight are invited to join the fun which begins at 7pm. Tickets are £6 per team member and refreshments will be available.

The quiz has become an annual tradition and last year scores of people took part.

The mayor Frank Pearson’s chosen charities are The Magic Wand Appeal, The Felix Fund and the Bishop’s Waltham Community Responders.

Food fanciers are invited to a Taste of Thai at the Bangkok Brasserie in Jewry Street on Tuesday February 5.  Tickets at £20 per head from Miff Kayum on 01962 869966.

The Tudor Roses, female Barber’s shop group, plus friends, will entertain at St Barnabas’ Church Swanmore on Friday February 22 at 7.30pm.  Donations invited.

All lovers of Welsh male voice choirs will want to be at The Guildhall, Winchester on Saturday March 2 at 7.30pm when the much-acclaimed Pontypridd Male Voice Choir will return to celebrate St David's Day.  Tickets at £10 for adults, £5 for children.
