WINCHESTER’S Olympic legacy shows no signs of letting up, as another sporting group emerges in the city.

The Winchester Royal Caribbean Running Group has been set up for beginners to take part in a stress free jog around the parks and streets of Winchester.

The Sports and Physical Activity Team at Winchester City Council have come up with the scheme in conjunction with Run England and Royal Caribbean International.

It will include a combination of walking, jogging and running, giving participants a chance to work toward personal goals, improve fitness or provide a gentle return from injury.

The group meets outside Riverpark Leisure Centre every Thursday evening at 6.30pm, with sessions lasting for about an hour.

All runs are lead by a first-aid trained running instructor who plans safe routes, conducting a range of drills to improve technique.

Weekly entry fee is £1.00 per session and there’s a free t-shirt and rain jacket for participants.

The group will have one week off over the Christmas period but will start back up again on the January 10 2013 just in time for new year’s resolutions.
