AN unauthorised park and ride at Winchester Rugby Football Club has ended said a city council spokeswoman.

Council enforcement officers have investigated the service in which Denplan employees were parking at the club in Abbotts Barton and getting a taxi to and from work at company offices on Hyde Street.

The spokeswoman said: “We believe that those arrangements have now come to an end. Denplan have bought season tickets for the Cattle Market car park and we have no open planning enforcement case for this.”

Why would this arrangement have been an issue anyway? Surely such initiatives should be encouraged.

Hmmmm, who really benefits from this? Perhaps the owners of the Cattle Market Car Park? Who are.....oh yes... Winchester City Council!

What sort of society are we living in when it requires government permission for a few people who work together to leave their cars outside the city and share a taxi?!

And where are all the idiots from WACC - normally they would be jumping up and down about a story like this?

Why do County Council workers have a car park, for the chosen few, down by the Bar End recycling centre?

Should they be encouraged to buy season tickets as well?
