TWO Winchester teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated harassment.

Police today appealed for the victims of an incident in Winchester city centre to come forward.

At around 8.15am on Thursday, December 6 a man witnessed two males make racist comments when a black women walked by.

The alleged abusers were standing on the steps in the alleyway between Tower Street and Staple Gardens, near to the Belgarum Place flats.

The witness heard them make racial comments towards her and then saw a white man walk through the alleyway, and the offenders also verbally abuse him.

PC Susanna Robinson said: “The witness found the language offensive and unacceptable and has reported the matter to the police.  We are appealing for the woman and the man who the abuse was aimed at, to come forward and speak to us."

The two men, who have not been named, were released on police bail pending further enquiries.
