POLICE have this afternoon named the driver who died in a collision on the M3 near Winchester on Saturday evening.

He was Andrew John Greest, 54, of Pelham Road, Gosport.

Mr Greest died after his Vauxhall was in collision with a second Vauxhall on the southbound carriageway at the Winchester services around 10.13pm.

The other driver, a 44-year-old man from Bournemouth, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and bailed until February 28.

Police are continuing their investigation and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed it or either vehicle prior to it.
