ROYAL Hampshire County Hospital is warning relatives to limit visits to patients over the festive period to stop the spread of Norovirus.
The winter bug causes diarrhoea and vomiting in people of all ages and Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is patients’ families to restrict visits to one per day.
A spokesman said: “There are currently high levels of Norovirus in the community, and some cases in the hospital. Restricting visiting helps reduce the chance of spreading the infection.”
“Please do not visit Royal Hampshire County Hospital if you or close family are experiencing any vomiting or diarrhoea. You should be free of symptoms for 48 hours before visiting the hospital. It is also recommended that children do not visit the hospital.”
Visits hours are limited to between 6:30pm and 7:30pm, unless there are exceptional circumstances which must be approved by nurses.
