IT had a £40m makeover and won major awards but that didn’t stop the roof leaking in heavy rain earlier this week.

Liberal Democrat city councillor Martin Tod Tweeted a photo of the leak inside Hampshire County Council’s revamped headquarters in Winchester alongside the question? “Remind me, how much did the refurbishment cost.”

The snap shows an area of the conference hall cordoned off with buckets to collect the rain.

Council leader Ken Thornber told a meeting of the full council yesterday that a contractor will pay to repair the “small leak.”

What a pathetic non story.

All new builds come with guarantees that last for years.
