SIX-YEAR-OLD Liam Skeet is the winner of MP Steve Brine’s Christmas card competition.

On Monday, November 19, the budding young artist from St Bede Primary School was presented with his prize of a family ticket to the pantomime.

A member of the Year One Walker Class, Liam will now see his design transformed in to Mr Brine’s Christmas card, which will be sent to various organisations, and even the Prime Minister.

Mr Brine said: “We had such a great time looking at all the designs, which came from across Winchester and Chandler’s Ford. We had so many entries this year and the standard was so high.”

The event, now in its second year, saw Rosalie Upton Jones, seven, also from St Bede, win a commendation.

Hebe Field from Compton Primary School won the Year 6 category and Grace Wilson from Sherbourne House won the Year 5 entries. Daisy Conway of Compton Primary School walked away with the Year 4 prize, while eight-year-old Amy Oldfield from Prince’s Mead scooped top honours in the Year 3 category.

Monty Field from Compton Primary School won the Year 2 category while Martha Hurst from Stanmore Primary School won the reception prize.

In a new category for the best wrapping paper design, Jamie May Bennett from Stanmore Primary School will receive a certificate of congratulations.
