A WINCHESTER footbridge over the River Itchen has been closed after it became dangerous to users.
An inspection of the bridge at the foot of Blue Ball Hill showed that several deck planks had rotted.
The footbridge will be completely re-decked with new hardwood planks with anti-slip inserts, said a county council spokeswoman.
The council is awaiting confirmation of the start date and duration of the works from the contractor.
