WINCHESTER’S MP Steve Brine says there’s overwhelming opposition to the Boundary Commission’s plans to move Alresford, Old Alresford, Bighton and Gundleton into a new North East Hampshire and Alton constituency.
Mr Brine held a street surgery on Saturday at the junction of Broad Street and West Street on Saturday with city councillor Ernie Jeffs and town councillor Lisa Griffiths.
He said: “Ernie Jeffs and I have been holding this street surgery for almost seven years now and this one was one of our busiest to-date. We had so many people stopping to chat and everyone wanted to say how much they disagree with the proposals to sever Alresford from the Winchester constituency at the next election.”
The deadline for the public consultation by the Boundary Commission is December 10.
