Winchester city councillors will tonight urge opposition to plans to move Alresford into another parliamentary constituency.
The Council meeting at the Guildhall is considering a motion to oppose the Boundary Commission’s proposals to relocate Alresford into the North East Hampshire constituency. That would merge the market town with places such as Hook and Hartley Wintney.
The motion, to be moved by Cllr Margot Power who represents The Alresfords ward, calls for local MP Steve Brine to vote against legislation that severs Alresford from Winchester.
The deadline for the Boundary Commission consultation is December 10.
