THE Highways Agency is warning that the M3 southbound near Winchester will be closed for two nights later this month.

The road will be closed overnight between junctions seven (Basingstoke) and nine (Winnall) for resurfacing work.

The work on Monday and Tuesday November 12-13 will improve the condition of the surface for the 57,000 vehicles that use this stretch each day.

Guy Watts, Highways Agency Project Sponsor said: “This resurfacing work is essential to maintain safe and reliable journeys on the M3 in this area. We will carry out resurfacing on two different sections at the same time to reduce the number of overall closures required.

he added: “We will carry out the work overnight between 10pm and 6am, when traffic flows are lowest.”

A fully signed diversion route will be in place via the A30, A303 and A34.
