Winchester woman enjoys spooky 100th birthday party
11:45am Saturday 3rd November 2012 in Winchester
A WINCHESTER woman celebrated Hallowe’en for very different reasons last week.
Constance ‘Connie’ Duddridge (corr) marked her 100th birthday with a spooky party at her home at Colten Care in Abbotts Barton.
A keen amateur actor in the past, Connie was happy to dress up and said the secret to long life was to take a relaxed approach to it.
Connie said: “Try to have a nice, easy life. Be happy, don’t drink too much and never do too much at one time.”
Denise Smyth, manager of the home, added: “Connie takes part in most activities in the home and she really is a laugh-a-minute character. She has an amazing memory and often recites poetry and lines from Shakespeare plays.”
Connie moved to Colten Care four years ago and celebrated the occasion with daughter Anne, grandchildren Sarah and Simon and great-grandchildren Lewis and Noah.
She was born in Leicestershire and then moved to Birmingham when she married her late husband Gordon.
