A HAMPSHIRE charity is warning parents and children to be careful on Bonfire Night.
Open Sight, which helps people dealing with sight loss and visual impairment, is calling for more precautions than ever before this year.
Tessa Barret, chief executive of the Bishopstoke-based charity, said: “We see a steady increase in the people we support every year but I would prefer them not to be related to Bonfire Night.
“Firework nights provide 'grand' visual entertainment but we should remind ourselves of the numbers of people seen by first aiders at events as a direct result of 'what goes up must come down’.”
Advice to revellers includes wearing goggles, not handling fireworks and not approaching a firework that fails to go off unless sure the fuse is out.
