A WINCHESTER man is taking charity efforts to new heights.
Nigel James, 60, has set off on a 28-day trek through the Himalayas which will take him higher than the Mount Everest base camp.
He is raising funds for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance in honour of the charity’s fifth anniversary.
Nigel has been climbing mountains for 46-years and has hiked in the Alps, Pyrenees and Sierra Nevada. He also served as a mountain guide in Spain for three years.
He said: “I couldn’t image a more appropriate charity, as the knowledge that you always have the support of air rescue is always vital to any mountaineer.”
Nigel, who left on October 16, aims to raise £500 and donations can be made at Harestock Garage, Priors Dean Road, Harestock, where he works as a cashier.
