Toddler rescued from bus station loo
EMERGENCY services rescued a toddler trapped in Romsey bus station's toilets.
The unnamed two-year-old boy went in the ladies toilets with his mother during Friday lunchtime. But as they were coming out the youngster ran back inside and some how became locked in.
Romsey firefighters and the police were called to free him.
And in a joint effort, police community support officer Kev Wilkinson and firefighting crew manager Kelvin Tongs, freed the distraught child.
Kev, who has been a Romsey-based PCSO for more than a year said:" He was saying 'daddy please help me'. It felt as though he'd been in there ages but it was probably about 10 minutes."
PCSO Wilkinson said that a 'metal bar' was missing from the locking mechanism and he had to use a pair of pliers to remove one from another door and use it in the lock of the cubical door where the lad was stuck
After his ordeal was over the youngster was given a tour of the fire engine.
