WINCHESTER police arrested a man today moments after CCTV had spotted a shop window being kicked in.

The 30 year old was detained in the city centre following the attack on the Fat Face shop in the High Street at about 3am.

Sgt Stuart Gilmour, of North Walls police station, said: “It was excellent work by the CCTV. The CCTV in Winchester is really good. We get a lot of positive results.”

The man was detained and taken to Basingstoke police station where he was due to be questioned.

The cells at the North Walls station are currently closed for refurbishment.
