THE danger to the public is being assessed at Winchester’s famous ‘Horse and Rider’ statue.
The county council has fenced off the bronze sculpture by Dame Elisabeth Frink following heavy rainfall and ground subsidence.
The council says it is a precautionary measure while work is carried out to assess what remedial measures may be needed.
The sculpture was cast in 1975 and displayed in Winchester from 1981 near the Law Courts.
