POLICE are investigating a spate of burglaries in outbuildings across the Winchester district.

They are asking householders to ensure that your property is secure and to follow crime prevention advice.

It is not known at this time if these incidents are linked, although it would appear highly likely at least several are.

The raids:

Cross Way, Shawford – April 27-30 an unlocked garage was entered and a lawn mower and hedge trimmer stolen;

Colden Lane, Old Alresford – Overnight April 28 outbuildings were broken into and a lawnmower taken. Damage was also caused to an office light fitting and three Chubb locks were taken;

Poles Lane, Otterbourne – April 26-29 a lawn mower was stolen from a shed and copper piping from the garden;

Cheriton – Storage sheds at nurseries broken into overnight on April 27, nothing was stolen;

Duke Street, Micheldever – Burglary to large plant machinery warehouse on evening of April 28 and several chainsaws stolen;

Kiln Lane, Old Alresford – Overnight on April 27, two garages and a van broken into by smashing rear window. Stihl power saw stolen;

Sutton Wood Lane, Bighton – Overnight on April 27, two stables accessed by forcing doors with crowbar, nothing stolen;

Sutton Wood Lane, Bighton – Overnight on April 27, attempt made to gain entry to freestanding garage, tool marks left in the wood. No access gained, nothing stolen;

Alresford Road, Cheriton – Overnight April 27 several outbuildings and garages broken into, heavy chains cut/damaged. Nothing believed to be stolen at this time.
