A MUM-of-three killed in a fatal crash on the A31 has been named locally as Nicola Price.

The 39-year-old, who is from Stockbridge, died following a two-car collision on Friday night.

Police say a Mitsubishi Mirage was travelling west when it was in collision with a Toyota MR2 that had stopped in the nearside lane.

Ms Price, who was driving the Toyota, was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital but died from her injuries on Saturday.

The Mirage was being driven by a 62-year-old Ringwood woman who was also taken to hospital but was discharged after treatment.

It is believed that the Toyota had broken down, although accident investigators will examine the vehicle for any mechanical faults that could have contributed to the tragedy.

Ms Price is the mum of Shannon, 20, Tyler, 19, and Logan, nine.

A post-mortem was due to take place today, coroners staff in Winchester have confirmed.

Anyone with information about the crash should contact Totton Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting Operation Guard.
