AN icy road caused a power cut in a village near Winchester yesterday.
AN MG car skidded into a telegraph pole on a service road at Northfield Farm, off Hazeley Road, Twyford, at around 6.40am yesterday. The crash knocked down the pole cutting supllies to many properties.
Southern Electric confirmed they sent engineers out to the pole, which had snapped in half, but had to wait until police had finished with the scene before beginning work.
A spokesman said power was eventually restored to all properties by 9pm.
Winchester firefighters were initially called out because the power cut set off the fire alarm at nearby Twyford Preparatory School.
The driver of the MG was shaken but otherwise uninjured.
