A BY-ELECTION will be held next month to replace county councillor Fred Allgood who died last month.
Mr Allgood, a former Mayor of Winchester, represented Winchester Southern Parishes on the county council before his death from cancer.
The by-election, in the Denmead-Southwick area, will be held on Thursday February 9. Polling hours are 7am to 10pm.
Applications for postal votes must be received by Wednesday January 25. Further details on absent voting or becoming a candidate can be obtained from the Electoral Services Unit at Winchester City Council by telephoning 01962 848125 or emailing ereg@winchester.gov.uk Nominations need to be submitted to the deputy returning officer at the City Offices, Colebrook Street, Winchester, by noon on Friday January 13.
The usual polling station in Southwick and Widley Ward is unavailable for the by-election and therefore, with the agreement of the Squire, Mr Thistlethwaite, electors will cast their vote at St James’ Church, High Street, Southwick.
