RESIDENTS in Colden Common are being urged to be alert after thieves have been targetting homes in the village.

Police say that over the course of two days, there were two burglaries and one attempted break in.

All of the incidents happened between April 6 and 7, while householders were away.

In Church Lane, a window was smashed and costume jewellery worth £40 was stolen. On the same road a window had been forced open although it is not clear whether thieves managed to break into the home.

In Whitebeam Close a rear glass door was smashed and several items of jewellery were stolen.

Now police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

PC Sarah Newman from Meon Valley Police Station said:“We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious. If you have any information, please call 101 quoting one of the crime reference numbers above.

“Now the days are getting warmer, make sure your properties are left secure. Please also keep an eye on your neighbours’ properties - especially if they are away on holiday.”

Anyone with information is urged to call 101.
