ONE of the oldest residents of Swanmore has had a road named in her honour.
The appropriately named ‘Reed Close’ now stands as a memorial to Kathleen Reed, a pillar of the village community, who died recently, aged 101.
Reed Close is located in the new Linden Homes development, Scholars Grange, will stand as a memorial to Mrs Reed.
Mrs Reed spent 100 years in the village and immersed herself in village life.
Her daughter, Pauline Reed who grew up in the area has expressed her pride in seeing her mother’s life remembered in such a way.
She said: “I am extremely honoured that the road has been named after my mum and that our family name, her life and commitment to the village will be remembered in the local area.
“It’s the perfect memorial to such a special lady and will ensure she lives on in the village that she loved so dearly.”
Scholar’s Grange is a collection of three, four and five bedroom homes located just off New Road in Swanmore.
