TWO dangerous dogs face being put down after savaging a boy in Otterbourne near Winchester.

Adil Chowdhury was bitten by two out of control rottweilers in Otterbourne in November.

As previously reported Adil, who was 12 at the time of the attack in a field near The Otter pub, suffered serious injuries.

He spent four nights in Southampton General Hospital and his injuries were so severe that at the time his parents said they did not even know how many stitches he had.

Now the owners of the two dogs have been convicted of being in charge of the two out of control dogs and ordered to pay a total of £5,000 to the victim’s family.

Lyndsey Scott, 28, of Boyatt Lane, Otterbourne, pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay £2,000 compensation. Roland Dixon, 29, of the same address, was ordered to pay £3,000, plus £650 costs after he was found guilty at trial.

The two dogs, Crusoe and Columbus, will be put down within 21 days unless an appeal is lodged by Monday, May 2.

The attack happened while Adil, a Thornden School pupil, and four friends were walking home from school.

Adil slipped and as the dogs mauled him, his friends called for help and two teenagers from Thornden School, Harry Redsull and William Hunter, who were both 13 at the time, rushed to help.

Harry and William shouted and waved their arms at the dogs and forced the rottweilers away from Adil.

The result of the case can only be reported now after the Chronicle challenged magistrates’ reporting restrictions, which prevented the boy or his friends being named, even though the case had already been reported on our front page.

As reported, dozens of police and a search helicopter rushed to the scene of the attack on November 13, they desperately tried to track down the two dangerous animals.

Residents were urged to stay inside as police went door to door looking for them.

The search lasted several hours before police captured the animals and took them to kennels.

The Chronicle approached the owners of the dogs for comment, but they did not want to talk.
