A SCHOOLBOY who was was left fighting for his life after being hit by a car has come home for the first time since the accident.

Felix Barrow, 11, was on his way to Swanmore College when he was hit by a Toyota Yaris just yards from his front door.

The sports lover qualified for Team GB's under 13s biathlon team at the age of ten and is a member of several running, swimming and cycling clubs across the county.

But he suffered devastating injuries in the accident, including a fractured skull and other broken bones.

Now after 130 days in hospital Felix has reached a significant milestone by walking through his own front door.

His mum Vanessa Barrow said: "Our hero had a big day today. This afternoon, Felix walked through his front door for the first time since his accident.

"That’s 130 days in hospital. In typical Felix style, he was very determined to do so on his own, but was assisted by mum and dad as you can see from the photo.

"Felix will be at home this weekend. He returns to Southampton General on Sunday evening, so will get to spend two nights in his own bed! He is very excited by the prospect, and his sisters are delighted that the family are reunited once more, in their own home."

A number of fundraisers are being held to raise money to support Felix in his ongoing rehabilitation. Set uop by his parents Fit for Felix has already raised over £10,000.
