A HAMPSHIRE MP is set to unveil the county’s newest dementia-friendly high street.

George Hollingbery, MP for the Meon Valley, will officially launch the initiative by presenting Dementia Friendly stickers to organisations in Bishop’s Waltham on Friday.

All businesses which have signed up to the scheme can display the stickers in their windows to show people with dementia and their carers that these shops are committed to their staff knowing how to support customers with dementia.

The launch event will be held in Red Lion Street and will also feature information stands setting out what help people affected by dementia can find.

Hampshire County councillor Rob Humby, who will attend the event, said: “I am absolutely delighted that Bishop’s Waltham is the latest community to join the Dementia Friendly Hampshire initiative, which is seeing an increasing number of the county’s towns pledging to become dementia-friendly.”
