A MEDIEVAL festival coming to Bishop's Waltham has received a major financial boost from a charity marking the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Agincourt.

Road to Agincourt, which takes over town's palace ruins next weekendJUL16-19, received £8,000 from Agincourt 600 on Tuesday.

It will cover 20 per cent of the budget for the event, which will feature re-enactments, open air theatre, sword and shield making, live music, dance, food and more.

The chancellor, George Osborne, allocated £1 million towards Agincourt events paid from fines incurred by bankers for rigging Libor lending rates.

Organiser Tony Kippenberger said tickets were selling well but many potential visitors were waiting to see the weather forecast.
