WORKS are set to begin on the puffin crossing in Twyford next week.
The long-awaited scheme will begin on Monday, July 13, and will take approximately seven weeks to complete, depending on the weather.
They have been scheduled to run in line with the summer holidays.
The puffin crossing will be installed outside Twyford House and will see the pavement on both sides widened where they meet the crossing. The road will be narrowed to 6m along the Searles Hill section of the High Street.
It is hoped that once the works are completed parents and children on the school run can cross the busy road much more safely.
A two-way temporary traffic signal and temporary bus stops will be in place while works are carried out.
