DEVELOPERS have scaled down plans for a major solar farm between Bishop’s Waltham and Waltham Chase.
Solafields has submitted a revised proposal for a facility west of the B2177 Winchester Road, which could power 3,636 homes.
The proposed site has been reduced from 74 to 64 acres, cutting annual power output from 15MW to 12.
Other changes include more planting, taller hedges for screening and a pledge to keep the farm from expanding into fields west of the proposed site.
Solafields’ director, Mark Candlish, said feedback from an exhibition in November was “extremely positive”.
The firm is offering the community up to 10 per cent in shares.
Residents and businesses have until the end of the month to submit comments to Winchester City Council.
