LOVE was in the air on the streets of Bishop’s Waltham as locals celebrated the launch of an online community hub.
Volunteers decked the road with heart-shaped balloons and schmoozed passers-by with Valentine’s Day treats to promote a new website promoting tourism in the town.
Lovebishopswaltham.com, launched on Saturday, and offers information on sightseeing, local history, shops, events and clubs.
Aimed at visitors, businesses and long-time residents, the site will be key to the market town’s commercial strategy over the next few years.
The website, like the biscuits, was created by Bishop’s Waltham Town Team, a community consortium looking to “future-proof” the historic high street as retail competition grows.
Tony Kippenberger, chairman of the Town Team, said: “We recognise that in this day and age, the first place that the majority of people look for information is the internet.
“Our new website will allow local people to find out more about the place where they live and will form the central pillar of a larger marketing campaign to encourage visitors.”
The website was built and designed with help from local PR firm Agile Marketing Agency and Droxford-based PMDC Design.
