IT WAS a totally vintage affair for a Shawford lady supporting breast cancer sufferers across the county.
Julia Mitchell is the latest to get involved in The Haven in Wessex £1 million Tea Party campaign.
As a member of the charity’s fundraising committee she has met with hundreds of women in the south who are desperate for a respite and support centre.
She is helping to raise the final £1 million and make the plans for a centre in Titchfield come to life.
More than 40 friends gathered at her home in Shawford to host a tea party with vintage china teapots, chocolate cake and other treats.
Mrs Mitchell said: “The women I have met have such powerful stories of battling breast cancer or knowing someone who has died from it, and if they had a centre perhaps their stories may have been different.
“I find them all truly inspiring and am so passionate about helping the charity. A tea party is such an easy and fun thing to do because everyone loves cake and a good cup of tea. Even if we can just raise a few hundred pounds each that will make a massive difference.”
