A FAIR Oak pensioner died after falling down the stairs and hitting his head on a bookcase.
Howard Williams lived with his children Alison and Peter, in Witt Road.
The 91-year-old retired accountant died on May 11 from his injuries. He also had deteriorating eyesight, prostate cancer and type two diabetes.
A Winchester inquest heard that the lights in the hallway of his home had not been on at the time he fell and the carpet on the stairs was loose.
Senior Hampshire coroner Grahame Short ruled a verdict of accidental death.
