A SPECIAL Remembrance Day service is to be held in Twyford this weekend.
On Sunday, November 9, from 10.45am at St Mary’s Church, an event will be held to support the local branch of the Royal British Legion and remember men from the village killed during WW1.
A number of items, in addition to poppies, are being sold to mark the centenary.
Car poppies, enamel poppies and commemorative wooden crosses that can be inscribed are being sold outside the village shop until the end of this week.
There is a minimum donation of £2 for a dated enamel pin, £1.50 for a wooden cross and £5 for a car poppy.
Rev Jonah Watts said: “We have had many moving national memorials this year for those killed in war – this will be our local opportunity to demonstrate that we continue to remember the Twyford men lost. Please bring all the family along. We look forward to seeing you.”
