A WICKHAM school has turned back time to the Saxon age by ploughing crops into the playing field.
Year 4 pupils at Wickham Church of England Primary School watched a pair of heavy horses plough, sow and harrow a winter wheat crop into the field.
The crop will be grown using the methods of the Saxon Meonwara, who occupied the Wickham area over a thousand years ago.
Headteacher Maria Ackland said: “This is a new and exciting historical enquiry project. Our children will use and learn from traditional methods at every stage.”
