Underground fire near Winchester
FIREFIGHTERS tackled an unusual fire last night under a road in a village near Winchester.
A crew from Winchester were called out to School Lane, Twyford, at about 8pm after an electrical fault sparked a fire under a manhole cover.
Crew manager Vince Barnes today said they attended for around two and half hours and used dry powder to contain the fire.
