TRAFFIC in Owslebury was brought to a standstill after two road traffic accidents happened within the space of an hour.

Police were called to the scene at Morestead Farm Stables on Morestead Road at 7.37am this morning (July 2) after a car and a motorbike collided.

It is not yet known what caused the incident between the Volkswagen Golf and the Honda CBR1000.

The male motorcyclist was taken to Royal Hampshire County Hospital with minor injuries.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: “It is believed there were slight injuries to the motorcyclist who was taken to hospital as a precaution.”

A second incident at 8.26am at the same site added to the congestion after three cars were involved in a collision.

Drivers of the Honda Civic, Ford Focus and Renault van collided with each other causing minor injuries to passengers.

It is not yet known how many people were treated at the scene.

“There were minor injuries,” the spokesperson added. “But no serious injuries and so no ambulance was called.”

Resident Sally Tattersall was taking her 13-year-old daughter on the school run and witnessed both accidents.

“It's unbelievable really,” she said. “First there was a motorbike upside down in the hedge and I assume the driver was in the ambulance.

“Then, on my way back, I saw two cars, one had gone into the back of the other, and a truck was taking them away. It's amazing that these happened within the space of an hour of each other.”
