THE ANNUAL elders coffee morning is coming to Twyford next month.

On March 22, from 10am-12pm at Twyford Parish Hall, elders will gather for a coffee and a chat where there will also be a book stall, cake stall, bric-a-brac and a raffle.

For more information please contact Mary Timms on 01962 713862.

A FAMILY from Otterbourne will be waving their neighbours farewell when they pop across the pond for their daughter’s life-changing surgery.

Jo and Andrew Syvret will be wishing their community well, at Otterbourne Village Hall on February 23, when they host a children’s party in aid of their daughter Jemima who is all set to receive spinal surgery in the US on March 18.

As previously reported in the Chronicle, Jemima was born with quadriplegia, a form of cerebral palsy, and needs the surgery so she can eventually walk unaided.

The family have battled furiously to raise over £90k for their daughter’s surgery and physiotherapy over the last twelve months.

On February 1 they hosted a Beatrix- Potter themed ball which saw over £50k raised for Jemima’s cause.

  • CHILDREN in Compton and Shawford are needed to help come up with a new name for a sports field to win a very special prize.

The Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) needs a new name in time for the opening ceremony in April and the winning name could see one lucky person presented with free tickets for them and their family to a day out at Marwell Wildlife.

Contestants must submit their selected name for the games area as well as their own full name, age and contact details including a telephone number, email and post code.

Age categories will be assessed in the categories of under seven, seven and over, and 11 and over.

Each person is encouraged to submit a reason, or an interesting fact or historical reference, to support your entry but this is not essential.

Entries need to be made to the Parish Clerk at clerk@compton.parish.hants.gov.uk.

All submissions must be received by February 28.
