A CHARITY ball is set to give a major cash boost to a Winchester health charity.
The Mad March Hare Ball will be held at Norton Park Hotel, Sutton Scotney on Friday March 5.
The event has been organised by Dr Barnaby Thwaites, consultant cardiologist at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital with colleagues Naomi Ratcliffe, Helen McLaren and Georgie Matthews.
Tickets have sold out, and 240 people will be attending the glitzy event, whose theme is Alice in Wonderland.
Guests will enjoy a reception followed by a three course meal with coffee, then an auction and raffle of around 30 items will help increase monies raised. Dancing to the local band graVity (CORR) will take the night on to 1am.
Funds raised will go to the League of Friends of the Winchester Hospitals and then onto the RHCH.
The league regularly helps with care at the hospital. Most recently it gave a six-figure donation to the cardiology department after a legacy from the late Mrs Doris Green in memory of her late husband Frederick James Green.
The league’s donation of £171,000 equipped a new echocardiography laboratory.
The new facility will help tackle all types of heart disease, but will particularly benefit plans to expand services for coronary disease and heart failure.
