A WINCHESTER youth club is planning a reunion of past and present members to celebrate its leader of more than two decades.

Fiona Watton has led Micheldever youth club at Northbrook Hall for more than 21 years.

The club is now planning to mark the occasion with a reunion open day, complete with activities and refreshments.

Fiona said: "Looking back, it's been a big commitment to open Micheldever youth club every Monday night for over 21 years, but it's never been a chore. The young people always bring their energy and sense of fun and that fills the evening.

"Reflecting back I remember the good times the young people have had, but also the tough times and decisions that they face in everyday life. Contributing to the health and well-being of the young people in the community has been hugely rewarding and I am very proud of the achievements of past and present club members.

" Each young person is an individual, full of potential and contributing to that being reached by providing a listening ear, sign posting to services, going on trips which just wouldn’t happen without a club, remains my motivation.

"The club is fully supported by the community and the rest of the Street Reach team, who are all fantastic. A big thank you to my present local team of Stuart and Nathan.

"The chance to have a reunion is also a day to look forward, I can’t wait to meet the children of previous members who perhaps one day will come to the club. Also to see everyone in one place and catch up on their stories will be wonderful."

Micheldever's youth club is delivered by charity Street Reach, and is free to all young people aged 11 to 18.

It currently has 31 young people regularly attending.

The club provides social contact, promotes community cohesion and the young people are able to access information and services through trained youth workers.

The club also offers activities and outings to overcome rural isolation.

Past and present attendees are invited come along with their families and friends to bring the community together and to share their memories.

Any photos or memorabilia would be very welcome.

The open day will take place at the village hall on March 11 from 2pm-4pm.

If you know of anyone who would like to attend, please contact Street Reach at winch.youth@gmail.com.
