POLICE have named the married couple who died after a car crash near Winchester on Sunday.

John and Judith Woodget, from Lockeridge, Wiltshire, died after their car collided with a parked lorry in a lay-by on the A303 at Sutton Scotney.

Leading tributes today, relatives said that the loss of the "adored" couple had left an "unfathomable" hole in the family.

Mr Woodget, 64, died at the scene of the crash, on the westbound carriageway near Bullington Cross interchange, at around 5pm on Sunday.

Mrs Woodget, 65, died the following day at Southampton General Hospital, police have confirmed. Relatives were by her side.

A statement issued by the family said: "John and Judith were adored by their children Matthew, Lucy and Sarah and their four grandsons Theodore, Maxwell, Sebastian and Miles.

"The hole left in the family is unfathomable. They were a hugely caring, fun loving and inspirational couple. They constantly provided time, energy and help to so many people, from family and friends to the community and beyond."

A John and Judith Woodget Fund has been established at the Wiltshire Community Foundation, which was chaired by Mr Woodget.
