A DEVELOPER is finalising the design for a planning application for up to 50 new homes in Kings Worthy.

HAB Housing held a public exhibition in November and is expected to submit its application to the city council this month.

The parish council has also been in talks with the developer about a new community hall on the site, off Lovedon Lane, and is investigating the cost.

The recent full parish council meeting also heard that the owners/developers are offering some funding for allotments and sports facilities.

It comes as part of Local Plan Part Two, which requires 250 homes to be built in the village by 2031, with 22 yet to be allocated.

The city council is also consulting the public on ideas to build new homes on land off Hookpit Farm Lane, known as Top Field, which has caused controversy among residents.
