19th century rector of Itchen Abbas the subject of talk to Worthys Local History Group tomorow
A FORMER rector of Itchen Abbas will be the topic of the Worthys Local History Group next meeting.
David Taylor will be the speaker of the meeting on Thursday, February 12.
He will talk about Rev Robert Wright, who was rector from 1800 to 1850, and a magistrate who sided with the poor and working class.
Mr Taylor will examine Wright’s reputation looking at evidence from his work as a magistrate and his contribution to the cure of souls in his five parishes.
The meeting is at 7.45pm at St Mary’s Church Hall, in Fraser Road.
