REPORT: Littleton and Harestock Gardening Club’s July meeting.
The speaker was Derek Dexter, a keen fuchsia grower, who has won many prizes including a silver gilt award at the Chelsea Flower Show.
Among a wealth of advice, Mr Dexter described how he saves time by potting on his plants just once rather than the experts’ usual three times.
His talk was illustrated with a colourful slide show that depicted an array of fine specimen fuchsias that he had grown, and there were cuttings to view.
The club will visit Upton Wold, a Cotswold garden, today (Thursday, July 31) and a trip to Hillier’s Arboretum is planned in lieu of the August meeting.
The chairman, Ted Ashley, wished members a good summer and reminded them that the next meeting at Littleton Millennium Memorial Hall will be on September 17 when the speaker will be the club president, Ray Broughton.
The topic will be Interesting Plants and New Ideas for 2015.
