A TV chef’s Hampshire restaurant has been named one of Britain’s finest up-and-coming eateries.
Michelin-starred Atul Kochhar, pictured right, who appeared on the BBC’s Great British Menu, opened Vatika at Wickham Vineyard in 2009, vowing to make the most of Hampshire produce.
Now the restaurant has been named as a runner-up in the prestigious Remy Martin VSOP Awards, which honours the best new establishments outside London.
The gong is a result of analysis of the survey of 8,000 restaurant goers for the publication of the Harden’s UK Restaurant Guide 2010.
Wedgwood in Edinburgh took the top spot award.
Mr Kochhar said: “We are very privileged at Vatika to have some of the UK’s best produce available to us.
“It is with great credit owed to my fantastic team and all their hard efforts since we opened, that we are considered as one of the best rated newcomers.”
